PRE-SCHOOL CURRICULUM

Here at Ashbrooke House School and Pre-School, pupil to teacher ratios are as important in Pre-School as they are throughout the whole school. Ashbrooke House Pre-School maintains a maximum of 16 children with two trained nursery staff.

Children can start the term after their 3rd birthday, and we accept 15 hours funding and some reserved places for 30 hours funding.

We follow the Early Learning Foundation stage, each child has their own learning diary which is updated regularly with observations and photographs linking to the seven key areas of development:

  • Personal, Social & Emotional

  • Communication & Language

  • Physical

  • Literacy

  • Mathematics

  • Understanding the World

  • Expressive Arts & Design

The children learn through Topic Based Activities both Adult and Child lead. We enhance their learning by going on trips in the local area which include the park, beach, woods, zoo, and farm. We have weekly music and PE sessions using specialist teachers to maximise the quality of the tuition.

The dedicated Pre-School rooms are configured to encourage your child to learn by using numerous free flow activities including using sand, water, small world, construction, painting and many more. Pre-School also works closely with our Reception Class as well as with Class 1 and 2, sharing lunchtimes and outside play to further develop social interaction skills.
